Two Headed Turtle - Amazing

They say two heads are better than one, but this rare turtle doesn't seem to know whether it's coming or going - slowly, either way.

The two-headed red slider turtle has turned up at a reptile centre in Pennsylvania, where owners are amazed by its freak appearance. The unnamed curiosity has two heads on opposite sides of a single shell, as well as six legs and a combined tail.

A collector in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, passed the freak of nature to Big Al's Aquarium Supercenter in East Norriton. Jay Jacobi, the shop's exotic reptile manager, said: "The two heads seem to have their own thoughts, operating independently. "But sometimes they seem to put their two heads together and move in the same direction, feed together, walk together." Three names are in the running for the turtle.

These include Gemini, after the Zodian twins symbol, and Blinky, the name of a three-eyed, radioactive fish in an episode of The Simpsons. The store is also pondering calling the turtle Limerick, after a nuclear plant in the region, or Them. A two-headed tortoise was found in South Africa in 2003, with another turning in Dorset the following year.

Any Guess

Can you guess who is this.....man !!

Orkut rules, dating, matrimonial sites follow

Though Indians continue to use internet primarily for emailing, online dating, and matrimonials along with social networking are gaining prominence, says a survey.

"With almost half the online urban Indians (48 per cent) undertaking it, online matrimonial search has established itself as a 'mainline' online activity. Twelve million online urban Indians are using online matrimonial search, making it the 13th most popular online activity. It has also been one of the biggest 'gainers' in users among the online activities in last one year," says India Online 2007, a survey conducted by JuxtConsult, an online research solutions consultancy firm.

The survey conducted to understand the Internet users in the country adds, " Almost 60 per cent of users of both the online activities are common, ie 37 per cent of all Internet users undertake both online matrimony and online dating/friendship.

"This is significantly higher than last year when only 9 per cent of all Internet users undertook both the activities. In comparison to matrimony, dating/friendship is a more popular online activity with 51 per cent net users undertaking it and it ranks 10th in terms of popularity."

The latest entrant, social networking sites like Orkut, Facebook among others have already rallied up 44 per cent of the Internet time with over 11 million Indians getting hooked to it.

Giving a demographic profile of Internet users in the country, the survey points out that South India leads the online activity with 39 per cent of all net users coming from South. The survey, which was conducted both online and offline covering more than 36,000 respondents from 31 cities spread across the country adds, "The popularity of online matrimonial search has really surged in last one year. Last year the percentage of all net users undertaking matrimonial search was only 15 per cent. At 48 per cent usage level now, the category has seen an addition of a 33 per cent of all net users joining the category in this year."

"There is no denying that matrimonial websites are now gaining prominence if we go by the number of people who register with us. We are making it easier for them by bringing out vernacular matrimonial websites which is attracting a large section of the online matrimonial search users, " says Uday Zokarkar, Business Head, Bharatmatrimony Centre.

Bharatmatrimony group (vernacular sites also included) has been voted as the most preferred matrimonial site in the survey.

Another activity, which is the second most preferred by online users, is job search. Searching jobs online is no more limited to big cities and only four out of 10 online job seekers in urban India come from the top 10 metro cities, the survey adds. A majority of 61 per cent of online job seekers come from non-metro towns -- 31 per cent belonging to smaller non-metro towns and 30 per cent from the larger non-metros, it reveals.

The top three most preferred activities by online users as per the survey are, emailing (95 per cent), job search (73 per cent) and instant messaging (62 per cent).

Gibson - World's Tallest Dog - Amazing

There's a monster lurking around.

No, it isn't Godzilla. His name is Gibson.

When he stands on his hind legs, the 170-pound "Harlequin" Great Dane is more than 7 feet tall, and has a shoulder height of 42.6 inches (topping Harvey's old record of 41.5 inches). Thankfully for everyone, Gibson is just a big, friendly puppy dog.

Actually, he's the tallest dog in the world. Gibson holds several world records, including the world's tallest dog, tallest therapy dog and tallest Great Dane. And he's been turning quite a few heads outside of his native Grass Valley.

In fact, Gibson has appeared on these television, magazines and radio shows:
  • Oprah Winfrey Show | Harpo Productions
  • The Tonight Show with Jay Leno | NBC
  • Good Morning America | ABC News
  • Inside Edition
  • Montel Williams Show
  • Guinness World Record Amazing Animals | Animal Planet
  • Mark & Brian Radio Show | ABC Disney
  • Larry King Live | CNN
  • Parade Magazine
  • Ladies Home Journal
  • Life Magazine | photos by Pulitzer Winning Photographers David Hume Kennerly & Deanne Fitzmaurice
Gibson's owner, Sandy Hall, says that even though her dog is a giant and has been receiving some giant publicity, there's more to the dog than just his size. "He just puts a smile on people's faces," Hall said. "In one split second, people forget their cares and worries."

20/20 World Cricket Championship series to kick off today

One may not be familiar with the “20/20 cricket series” but the cricket enthusiasts around the world are all set to wel ..........

One may not be familiar with the “20/20 cricket series” but the cricket enthusiasts around the world are all set to welcome the wonder game .This is the first time in the cricket history that two world cups will be organized in a year especially in just 05 months duration. All the participating nations especially the top eight test playing countries are expecting to capture the cup, which became disappointed in the 50-50-world cup. On the other hand Australia is eyeing to grab all the top honors to prove its superiority to others.

20-20 cricket was first introduced at county level by the England and Wales Cricket Board in 2003. In this format of cricket each team bats for a maximum of only 20 overs a side, with each innings lasting for 75 minutes.

20-20 World Cup Rules

  • A Bowler may bowl a maximum of only 4 overs per innings.
  • Umpires may award 5-run penalty runs at their discretion if they believe either team is wasting time.
  • The following fielding restrictions apply:
  1. No more than 5 fielders can be on the leg side at any time.
  2. During the first 6 overs, a maximum of 2 fielders can be outside the 30-yard circle.
  3. After the first 6 overs, a maximum of 5 fielders can be outside the fielding circle.
  4. Should a bowler deliver a no ball by overstepping the popping crease, it costs 2 runs and his next delivery is designated a free-hit, from which the batsman can only be dismissed through a run out.
  • If the fielding team do not start to bowl their 20th over within 75 minutes, the batting side is credited an extra 6 runs for every whole over bowled after the 75 minute mark; the umpire may add more time to this, if he considers the batting team is wasting time.

  • If the match ends with the scores tied and there must be a winner, the tie is broken with a bowl-out (similar to a penalty shoot-out in football); with 5 bowlers from each side delivering 2 balls each at an unguarded wicket. If the number of wickets is equal after the first 10 balls per side, the bowling continues and is decided by sudden death.

Smile! Big Brother software is watching you

A Japanese company has developed 'smile checker' software that can tell whether someone looks happy, sad or somewhere in between.

By analysing facial features, such as wrinkles around the mouth and eyes and the space between the lips, Omron Corp's new software can spot a smile in less than one tenth of a second and rate it on a scale of zero to 100 per cent. The company envisions the software can be used in digital cameras so a photo can be snapped when everyone is grinning, to help robots figure out if humans are happy, and give 'smile ratings' to people working in the service industry.

But can the software tell if the smiles are sincere?

"The engineers said that they've never really tested this, but the percentage rating would probably drop with a forced grin," said Omron spokesman James Seddon.

Rumours of 'Google Phone' launch

Specialised blogs are abuzz this week with rumours that Internet giant Google will soon launch the "Google Phone" or "GPhone," a cheap mobile phone equipped with Google's operating system.

High-tech product specialist Engadget said a Google announcement would come nextweek, adding that a Google operating system would be tailor-made for the new cell phone.

According to another blog, CrunchGear, "Google is currently assessing over twenty (of Taiwan's) HTC models" and plans to launch its cell phone between January amd March of 2008. Photographs of Google's touch-screen handset are already on the Internet, and according to Rizzn.com, it will cost a mere 100 dollars.

CrunchGear said the HTC/Google phone would have Google Talk enabled, allowing users to make free Internet phone calls. The blog said the Google phone will not only be able to surf the net but also will include "special version of Google Maps, compatible with built-in GPS, and compatibility with Gmail, Google's email service."

According to The Wall Street Journal, Google has already shown its prototype to US companies AT & T, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless, making it seem clear the Google Phone's launch will definitely take place in the United States.

Indian blog Rediff said the GPhone will be launched in two weeks simultaneously in the United States and Europe, adding that Google was talking with Indian telephone operators Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Essar, and that Bharat Sanchar Nigam could be one of the manufacturers.

Google has refused to make any comment on the rumours.

Bosnia Lays Claim to World Kissing Record

Close to 7,000 couples smooched late on Saturday in the Bosnian town of Tuzla.

Close to 7,000 couples smooched late on Saturday in the Bosnian town of Tuzla in an bid to break the world simultaneous kissing record. With fireworks, a giant TV screen, confetti and heart-shaped red balloons as the backdrop, the crowd kissed for at least ten seconds at 1100 p.m. local time (0900 p.m. GMT).

"We broke the record, it's great," said Kristina Gligorovic, the event's public relations officer. She said the record should be recognised after they submit video footage and documentation showing 6,980 couples locked in simultaneous kiss.

The organisers of the so-called Love Revolution hope to take over the crown from Hungary where 6,400 couples set the current Guinness World Record for the total numbers kissing simultaneously in June this year.

Tuzla's Islamic community protested against the event, saying that public exposure of love was contrary to Islamic tradition. Muslims make up roughly a half of the town's population.

But Tuzla Mayor Jasmin Imamovic said the event was aimed at promoting the town and its multi-ethnic community.

"We cherish the philosophy of love and not hatred. Let the love revolution start from here," he said.
